DPD peak Surcharge

Please see a comms we have received from DPD

Preparation for the festive period is a year-round commitment at DPD. We have been working since January to ensure our network is fully prepared to handle what we anticipate will be a record-breaking Peak season.

To maintain the industry-leading service levels you expect, we have made significant investments across our entire infrastructure ahead of November.

  • Network Capacity: We are opening seven brand-new depots and we are adding 200 new trailers, 150 7.5-tonne vehicles, 350 electric vehicles, and 600 3.5-tonne vans to our fleet.

  • People & Recruitment: Scaling our driver workforce has been a huge focus, and we already have more than 700 extra drivers than last year.

  • Operational Efficiency: We have invested in a dedicated collection-only fleet to process a million parcels through our hubs earlier in the day. We are fully operational seven days a week to maximise this capacity throughout Peak - and will deliver the vast majority of Next Day volume over the weekend. If you would like to schedule weekend collections, please reach out.

Operating at this scale and delivering seven days a week incurs substantial operational costs. To help support this expanded infrastructure and safeguard network capacity for your business, we are introducing a temporary Peak surcharge of the following:

This surcharge will apply to all parcels shipped on your account from 16 November until 31 December 2026.

We have absorbed as much of these costs as possible to keep this fee to an absolute minimum, and our top priority remains delivering an exceptional Peak experience for you and your customers.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your Peak volumes, please don’t hesitate to speak to your Account Contact.

Thank you for your continued partnership.
