french parcel tax

We are writing to inform you of an immediate change to your eCommerce goods sent to France. From 1st March 2026, the French Government is introducing a small parcel tax for packages sent from outside the EU to France, this applies to all parcels cleared directly in France. This is separate and additional to any current tax and duty costs you pay.

So how will this effect your parcels?

International Tracked Parcels

  • IOSS and DDP parcels are cleared commercially in the Netherlands, so there will be no small parcel tax on these items, please continue to send these parcels as you do now.

  • DDU parcels will continue to be cleared commercially directly in France, this means items will be subject to the small parcel tax. This will be collected by the French Post Office and will have to be paid by the recipient prior to final mile delivery. The €2 fee is based on individual items/ HS codes within the parcel, so if you are sending a parcel with 2 different items/ HS codes in it, then the charge will be €4.

Please consider sending your parcels on a DDP service if you currently ship DDU, this will be cheaper and will ensure your recipient does not have to pay additional costs on delivery, creating a better retail experience and increasing the prospect of repeat business.

We will keep you updated on any future changes as they are formalised.

Thank you for your ongoing business and support.
